The 2024 AMA Pro Motocross Championship saw round eight completed on Saturday in Washington. Here's a quick look at some Washougal National stats, rider vlogs, videos, SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) points update, and more.

Aaron Plessinger’s tenth career 450 Pro Motocross overall podium.
Jason Anderson’s 26th career 450 Pro Motocross overall podium.
Seven Straight for Sexton, 10 Overalls
Red Bull KTM’s Chase Sexton is riding a seven-moto win streak at the moment, as he earned his third consecutive overall win. Sexton now has ten career 450 Pro Motocross overall wins, as he becomes only the 25th rider in AMA Motocross history to reach at least 10 overall premier class AMA Motocross wins. Sexton is now tied with Kevin Windham and Chad Reed on the all-time wins list. Next up ahead of Sexton is Gary Jones at 11 overall premier class wins.
Deegan’s Seventh Win
Haiden Deegan claimed his seventh career Pro Motocross win aboard his YZ250F. Deegan now has as many 250cc wins as Cooper Webb, Ryan Dungey, Adam Cianciarulo, Travis Pastrana, Kevin Windham, Joey Savatgy, Doug Henry, Christophe Pourcel, Zach Osborne, Erik Kehoe, and Johnny O’Mara.
Look at the Laps Led (Again)
A few weeks ago, Chance Hymas took over as the rider who has led the most laps in the 250 Class so far this summer. Despite not leading any laps on Saturday in Washington, Hymas, who is fourth in the standings now, (80) still leads Deegan (78) in laps led so far. Eight total riders have led at least one lap in the 250 Class through the first eight rounds.
250 Class Laps Led So Far
Rider | Laps Led | Points Position After Round 8 |
Chance Hymas | 80 | 4th |
Haiden Deegan | 78 | 1st |
Tom Vialle | 42 | 2nd |
Levi Kitchen | 29 | 3rd |
Ty Masterpool | 22 | 6th |
Casey Cochran | 9 | 11th |
Jo Shimoda | 3 | 5th |
Mark Fineis | 3 | 19th |
In the premier class, Jett Lawrence—who just missed his third straight race—still leads the field in terms of laps led, with 81 total. Hunter Lawrence, P2 in the championship, has the second most laps led so far (55) over Sexton (53). Six different riders have led a 450 moto lap this summer, each leading at least 15 laps or more.
450 Class Laps Led So Far
Rider | Laps Led | Points Position After Round 8 |
Jett Lawrence | 81 | 8th |
Hunter Lawrence | 55 | 2nd |
Chase Sexton | 53 | 1st |
Justin Cooper | 41 | 3rd |
Aaron Plessinger | 29 | 4th |
Jason Anderson | 15 | 5th |
Non-Honda Podium
With Hunter Lawrence finishing 5-4 for fourth overall, it was his first 450 Pro Motocross race without landing on the overall podium. And with the #96 machine not in the top three, this marked the first race since the 2021 Pro Motocross season finale at Ironman Raceway that a Honda HRC CRF450R was not in the top three of an AMA Motocross race! In 2022, then-Honda HRC rider Chase Sexton landed 11 podiums in 12 rounds, which the one round he did not podium—the Budds Creek National—having teammate Ken Roczen on the podium with third overall. Obviously, Jett Lawrence’s perfect 22-0 season saw the #18 on all 12 podiums, with Sexton snagging seven podiums himself. Hunter Lawrence was on the podium at the first seven races this summer and Jett Lawrence had four podiums until he exited the series with a mid-week practice crash that resulted in a thumb injury. That last non-Honda 450 podium was August 28, 2021, almost three years ago!
KTM Teammates Podium (Again)
For the third time in eight races so far this summer, KTM teammates Sexton and Plessinger have both landed on the podium together. As we pointed out a few rounds ago, the only time KTM had two teammates on the podium together in the 450 Class since 2017 was the 2023 Thunder Valley National with Plessinger and then-KTM rider Cooper Webb.
