American Gavin Faith has confirmed that he will contest the six round 2015 Australian Supercross Championship for a fifth consecutive year when the series kicks off October 10 at Bathurst, NSW.
Faith, the reigning SX2 champion, will move to SX1 with powerhouse Penrite Honda Racing. "I am really looking forward to coming back to Australia,” said Faith, who also won the 2012 SX2 championship. "I love the country and am excited that the Australian Supercross Championship is growing. I was super-pumped to win the SX2 Australia championship last year and will be going all-out for another championship this year."
Joining Faith on the Penrite Honda Racing team will be former Yamalube/Star Racing rider Anthony Rodriguez. The 20-year-old from Venezuela has struggled with injuries throughout his two professional seasons in the United States, but has shown he is fast enough to contend. Rodriguez will also race the SX1 class.
MotoOnline.com.au reported earlier this week that defending SX1 champion Matt Moss should be 100 percent for the opening round after missing the final three rounds of the Australian Motocross Championship after colliding with a piece of machinery on track at Shepparton in late July.
“I’ll definitely be at 100 percent,” Moss told MotoOnline.com.au. “I’ve been training my butt off, doing a lot of motocross to get back in the swing of things and then two days of supercross now as well, pumping out the 20-lappers.
